Position Description: Design, construct, and maintain custom instrumentation and automation used in tissue and whole animal models of disease and drug liabilities. Implement and or develop novel ways to instrument animals for acute and chronic recording purposes. Such systems may require either the development of original instrumentation and or the integration of commercial instruments. 2. Identify, evaluate and reduce to practice new technologies e.g. imaging and machine vision, microfluidics, MEMS, implantable biosensors, etc. that improve the fidelity and increase the throughput of in ex vivo studies, 3. Keep current with advances in biomedical technology as they apply to oncology, immunology, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.

Position Requirements: 1. M.S. or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics or related field. 2. 1+ years experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment. B.S. level candidates with experience 5+ years will also be considered. 3. The successful candidate will have experience with technology development for in ex vivo experimentation, including some of the following small animal surgery optics, machine vision & image processing electronics for biosignal acquisition & processing implantable biosensors & telemetry. 4. Experience writing instrument control programs and data processing routines using Labview, Matlab, VB.NET, C , or other programming environments. 5. Strong communication and collaboration skills. An ability to interact, with credibility and confidence, with project scientists at all levels.
